About UsLisa, with the support and encouragement of her family, friends, and clients is the sole proprietor of Riverbend Studio 4 Hair. She changed more than just the name of the salon on November 7th, 2006, she changed the whole salon experience. Lisa had a dream to open up her own hair salon before she turned 40 and at 35 the opportunity knocked and she was right there to answer the door! Lisa has been in the industry for 10 years. When she graduated from Scientific Marvel Beauty School, she believed she was getting into the greatest, most creative trade ever, but lacked a little confidence. The idea of altering someone’s looks was a bit scary in her eyes. Her theory was "a hair cut or color is not like your favourite sweater, if you ruin it, you throw it in the back of your closet and buy a new one." You literally were changing someone’s physical appearance and that made her a bit nervous! People who know Lisa well wouldn't believe there was ever a "confidence" issue! While working a full time job in an office and then working another 20 hrs a week in the evenings and weekends in a mall salon, Lisa was able to build up her confidence as well as a clientelle. To this day, some of those clients that started with her are still loyal, even after a few moves to different locations. And she would like to thank each and every one of them for their loyalty. When the opportunity came to open up her own salon, Lisa wanted to take with her all the good and not so good experiences she had obtained from other salons she worked at to create a shop that stylist wanted to work at and clients felt comfortable enough to refer their friends and family to. Lisa had in mind the type of atmosphere she wanted to create, the type of people she wanted to employ, and the way she wanted her business run. Trial and error have played a huge role in creating Riverbend Studio 4 Hair. Lisa continually looks for education opportunities both in the business as well as in the beauty aspect to better her salon. She believes in this industry, "you never stop learning, and if you think you know everything, then you better stop cutting!" She has hired an extremely talented group of artists both hairstylists and an esthetician. She thinks very highly of her staff, and loves to watch them grow as beauticians as well as human beings. They have meshed together almost family like and encourage each other in all day to day challenges, in and out of the salon. She has employed apprentices so that they may learn, as she has, that this industry is not just a job but a passion and the idea of going to work everyday should be exciting and new, not a chore or a job that just pays the bills. She has chosen not to be referred to by her staff as their boss but as the shop's team leader. She feels at the end of the day, everyone should feel like an equal part of the success of the salon. |
